With the warmer months upon us, I’ve been trying to change up my everyday makeup look. I’ve really started to appreciate a natural makeup look, and when it comes to my most recent go-to spring/summer makeup look, I can summarise it in three words – glowy, simple, and quick.
So, here’s my mini makeup routine so you can re-create it this spring/summertime…
Starting with my base, before I apply any concealer I ALWAYS apply a liquid highlighter my cheeks. For this I flick between the Cover FX Custom Enhance Drops and the Makeup Revolution Liquid Highlighter. These are both very similar products and perfect for summer. I do have a full comparison of these two products on my blog, which you can read here.
After this, I go in with my favourite concealer, Tarte Shapetape. Since it’s getting warmer, I don’t want to wear heavy foundation everyday so I just like to use a touch of this concealer under my eyes and anywhere that I think needs a little bit of coverage. As this concealer is full coverage, I don’t need anything else, however, if you feel like you need more coverage then I would suggest using the First Aid Beauty Triple Protection Skin Tint, which is not only a beautiful base but also has an SPF 30, which is essential as the sun makes more of a regular appearance.
Once I’ve blended out my concealer, I will always powder over the concealed areas immediately after. Since I’m going for the dewy skin look, I don’t want to powder too much so a quick dusting under the eyes, forehead and chin works for me.
To finish off my base, I always add a bronze highlighter to my cheekbones, which adds a beautiful sun-kissed look to the skin. I’ve been testing out the INC.redible You Glow Girl highlighter in the shade ‘Show Glow’ recently and it’s been perfect. I have a full review here, but to sum it up this adds a stunning glow to the skin and can be applied subtly or built up depending on your preference.
Moving onto the eyes, mascara is an essential step in my makeup routine and it’s the product I certainly couldn’t live without. For my everyday makeup, I’ve been using the Soap and Glory ‘Thick and Fast’ mascara, and although it’s not my all-time favourite, I like it enough to use it up. It lengthens and volumises my lashes, but only after a few coats and beware it can start to smudge after a full day at work.
Finally time for lips – since the base makeup look is very natural, I think a bright lip colour adds a perfect contrast! For this look, I used a Revlon Lip Butter in the coral shade, ‘Tutti Frutti’, and I LOVE it. The Revlon Lip Butters are one of my favourite lip products, they’re moisturising, pigmented and feel so smooth on the lips!
As summer approaches and makeup routines are changing, I can’t recommend sticking to your cream and liquid products enough. They are not only quick and easy to use, they also leave your skin looking healthy and glowing and who doesn’t want that?
