Last week saw one of the most exciting makeup launches of all time – Fenty Beauty. For those that don’t know, Fenty Beauty is by Rihanna and includes a variety of products, including foundation, cream contours, and highlighters.
Not only was I very excited for this makeup launch, but so was every other beauty junky in the world. Launching in 1,600 stores across the world, success for Fenty Beauty is almost guaranteed. Like Rihanna, the brand is both edgy and feminine, which made me even more eager to try it out.
When I first logged on to Harvey Nichols, I honestly didn’t know what I was going to purchase. I wanted to buy everything! I then realised that not only would my bank account not let me, but there were some products that I simply didn’t need, for example, I have enough powder highlighters to last me a life time! So, after browsing the range, I finally decided to buy the Match Stix Trio so then I get a little bit of everything that I love.
So, a lot of you are probably wondering, are the products worth the hype? Here are my thoughts…
I’ll start with packaging. The three match six come in a beautiful nude packaging which are connected by magnets. They look super sleek and feel ultra luxurious, which is perfect for us makeup collectors!
Moving onto product, the match stix trio comes with three different sticks, a contour, highlight and shimmer and I got mine in the light shade.
Linen: A light banana highlight shade.
Amber: A cool toned brown contour.
Starstruck: A beautiful Champagne pearl highlight.
Each stick is wonderfully creamy, and very easy to work with which is perfect for those days when I’m in a rush. The shades also work together beautifully and are ideal for a light complexion. I must say though, the Amber contour produces a very grey-toned contour so perhaps try out the medium shade for a more warm-toned look.
These all glide on pretty smoothly, without pulling on the skin- I typically use the sticks straight onto my skin but you can also paint them onto a buffing brush if you would prefer. They’re also really pigmented, but can be sheered out if you don’t want a dramatic look.
Overall, these are beautiful. They are creamy, pigmented and blend like a dream. Rihanna certainly put a lot of time and effort into producing these products and I would highly recommend them to you.
I would also like to mention that I honestly cannot believe how inexpensive the products are for a celebrity makeup product. Compared to other makeup lines (KKW Beauty), Fenty Beauty is a complete steal and it’s totally worth the price!
I am really looking forward to exploring this range further and am excited to try out more products in the future.
