Getting ready for work in the morning can be a struggle, so I thought I’d talk you through my go-to makeup look for work!
At the moment, I’ve been loving a fresh, dewy makeup look, so for primer I’ve been using the Max Factor Facefinity Primer; this is lovely if you don’t require a ‘pore filling’ primer. Although the packaging isn’t the fanciest in the world, the product itself is great! Since it has an SPF of 20, it’s also perfect for the spring and summer days, and I find that my base makeup really sticks to it all day long!
Recently, I’ve been enjoying applying the correcting shade from the MAC Conceal and Correct Duo under my eyes. If you have dark circles, this product may become your best friend. With shea butter and vitamins E and C, the correcting formula evens skin tone and reduces the appearance of fine lines.
Before foundation, I like to add a light layer of the Nars Illuminator in the shade ‘Copacabana’ as it just makes my makeup stay extra dewy and adds a glow from within. Copacabana has a beautiful liquid texture that blends smoothly onto the skin and dries down to a non-sticky, dewy finish!
Since the weather is getting warmer, I like the feel of a heavy foundation on my face, so I’ve been loving wearing a light coverage tinted moisturiser to work. If you saw my most recent blog post, you’ll know that I just purchased the bareMinerals Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream. As the name suggests, this is a gel-based tinted cream that is so easy to apply and looks stunning on the skin. If you have dry skin, then you’ll LOVE this! I have normal skin, and love how this makes my skin look. It isn’t oily or greasy; it’s soft and lightweight, which lasts all day!
Since I’m loving a lightweight dewy makeup look, a cream bronzer is a must! I’m still testing out the Benefit Dew the Hoola, but so far, I’ve really been enjoying using it. It’s perfect for using to give yourself a bit of a natural glow.

There’s no denying that concealer is a must when it comes to my makeup looks, and I must say that the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer is one of my favourites! It’s lightweight, long-lasting and full coverage – what more could I ask for? I simply apply this under my eyes and wherever I may need it, and I’m good to go!
I like to set the under eyes as soon as I’ve blended concealer, so I simply pack on the Rimmel Match Perfection Loose Powder and bake whilst I focus on my eye makeup.
Since I’m only heading to work and I don’t need to go with a full smoky eye, I usually keep the eyeshadow simple with the Tom Ford Opale Cream Shadow. I won’t go into too much detail about this product as I recently rounded up my top five cream shadows, but if you’re into cream shadow… You NEED this!
To add a little depth to the eyes, I used a few shades from the Estee Lauder The Edit Palette. Before I purchased this, I didn’t do any research but I’ve now seen a couple of bad reviews and must admit I don’t agree! This palette is stunning, it has an amazing variety of colours and they all apply beautifully to the eyes. I simply applied a transition shade to my crease and smoked out the edges with the darker brown! To set the cream, I lightly added one of the shades to the centre of my lid! Perfect for work!

For mascara, I’ve been using the Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof. If you’ve ever tried the Benefit Real Lash mascara, this is very similar except it doesn’t flake! I can 100% say that this mascara gives you volumised, fanned out lashes and doesn’t smudge at all! If you’re on the hunt for a new mascara, you need to try this bad boy out!
If you think this is a lot of effort for a day-to-day makeup look, I promise that it doesn’t take longer than 15 minutes to do! To set the Dew the Hoola, I have been loving the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in ‘Bronze’. Since I have already bronzed, I love to create a sculpted look with this product! I brush this on my cheeks by swiping my bronzer brush on the shades, focusing on the darkest, and sweep it onto my cheek bones!
Do you really think I could end this makeup look without adding more highlight? I finish the face makeup with a light dusting of the Nars Albatross Highlighter. When applied onto the cheeks it adds a nice and soft glow with a white golden sheen. This is perfect for everyday as it can be built up for a more dramatic strobing effect or if you like to keep it simple, it can be kept sheer for a subtle glow!
Finally, on to lips! I don’t usually apply lipstick for work but if I do it’ll be a matte nude shade, something simple that’ll last! But, for today I decided to stick to an old classic, the Nuxe Lipbalm!
I hope you’ve all enjoyed this work makeup look, I find it perfect for everyday! Let me know what your favourite essentials are for a work makeup look on twitter @emstagramr!
