As this past weekend was a Bank Holiday, I decided to create my ‘go-to’ makeup look for day-to-day occasions and thought I would share it with you all.
Before I even start applying my base, I will always moisturise and apply my eye cream. My current favourites are the Kiehl’s ‘Creamy Eye Treatment’ and the Clinique ‘Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion’. After I’ve let the moisturiser sink in, I will always apply a primer. At the moment, I am testing out the bareMinerals ‘Prime Time Original’, which, so far, I really like. I’ve found that it has a similar texture to the Smashbox ‘Photo Finish Primer’ and it allows my makeup to apply smoothly. To go along with the primer, I like to apply the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in the shade ‘Celestial’ along my cheek bones and temples, under foundation! If you haven’t tried this under your foundation, you should. It makes your skin look like its glowing from within!
I’m sure you won’t all be surprised by my favourite foundation: Giorgio Armani ‘Luminous Silk Foundation’. I’ve been using this for over a year now, although I don’t use it every day, I like to save it for when I’m going out because it’s one of the best foundations I’ve ever tried and its definitely worth the price. The finish of this foundation is flawless, whether applied with a brush or a sponge, it looks beautiful. You’d think from the name ‘luminous’ it would give the skin an over-the-top glow, but it’s nothing too shiny or shimmery, so don’t fear this if you have oily skin! To conceal under my eyes, I used the Rimmel ‘Wake Me Up Concealer’ mixed with the Nars ‘Radiant Creamy Concealer’. This combination looks beautiful under the eyes, and I couldn’t recommend these products more. To set under the eyes, I’ve been loving the Rimmel Match Perfection loose powder. This makes my concealer last for a long time and doesn’t make my undereye look cakey. It’s a perfect ‘drugstore’ option!
Whilst my undereye area is setting, I like to focus on my eyes. If you read my last blog post, you’ll know that I have recently found myself obsessed with the Tom Ford cream and powder shadow in the shade ‘Naked Bronze’. It looks gorgeous on the eyes and lasts all day! To create a more dramatic look with this shadow, I simply used a few shades from theBalm ‘Nude Dude Eyeshadow palette’ to smoke out the crease. Once I had swept off the setting powder from under my eyes, I then went in with the highlighting shade in the palette and popped that in my inner corner. If you’re on the hunt for a go-to neutral eyeshadow palette, then you need this. We all know that no makeup look is complete without mascara, so for mascara I have been using the Maybelline Lash Sensationan Luscious Mascara! Again, I love this! Unfortunately, mine is slowly drying up so I need to buy a new one, but this makes my lashes look long and volumised without looking clumpy. Although this is a simple eye look, it adds a special touch to my makeup without being too crazy!

Moving back to the face, since I haven’t powdered my whole face yet I like to go in with some cream products. I recently purchased the Benefit Dew the Hoola, a lightweight, gel bronzer that’s been raved about by Influencers for months. I thought it was about time that I tried it out, and so far, I love it! This is a very similar shade to the Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel, so if you find that too orange for you, then you won’t like this, but I find it a perfect bronze shade for my skin tone. It gently warms my skin while adding radiance, and due to its sheer finish, it is suitable for just about every skin tone. After cream bronzer, I like to set my whole face with a very light dusting of my powder; I say light because I still want my skin to look dewy, whilst still lasting all day! To enhance my bronzer even more, I like to dust my face with the Illamasqua Beyond Powder in the shade ‘Epic’. Not only is this absolutely stunning, but it’s also perfect for any skin tone! Despite being a highlighter, I love to use this as more of a bronzer! If I could recommend only one thing from this whole blog post, it would be this. To finish my base, I then went in with the Makeup Revolution ‘Golden Sugar’ palette. Considering the price, this palette is amazing. Every shade is so soft and pigmented, and makes my skin look beautiful and glowy!

Finally, I decided not to wear a lipstick with this makeup look but simply applied a coating of my favourite Nuxe lip balm and I was good to go!
I loved this makeup look and will being using it again in the future, let me know what your favourite go-to makeup consists of in the comments below or on Twitter: @Emstagramr!
